The Cabbage Soup Diet is packed with nutritious vegetables and fruit, and is extremely low in fat. Many people say it's the best rapid weight-loss program around. You can lose about
10 pounds (4.5 kg) of weight in a week, though nutritional experts point out that it is impossible to lose that much fat within a week. This has lent credence to claims much of the weight lost is water. You should only go on this diet for one week at a time, then resume your normal eating for at least two weeks. The cabbage soup diet is too low in complex carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and minerals to continue for longer than this.                             

The more cabbage soup you eat the more weight you should lose. It allows people to eat as much cabbage soup as they want each day, which should sound appealing to dieters.  After all, dieters love to hear that they can eat unlimited amounts of food and still lose weight fast.

Although not suitable for long-term weight loss, the Cabbage Soup Diet is a low-fat, high-fiber diet that will help you get into shape fast before you embark on a more moderate long-term eating plan.

  • Plus: You'll lose weight fast, and can get as much of the foods listed in the program as you want. Although the diet is only for seven days only, it provides a great start to your diet program.
  • Minus: Some people have reported feeling light-headed, weak, and have suffered from decreased concentration. Beverages are limited to water, and unsweetened fruit juice on days when fruit is allowed.

Cabbage Soup Diet Plan:

§         Day 1 - Cabbage soup plus as much fruit as you like, excluding bananas

§         Day 2 - Cabbage soup plus vegetables including 1 jacket potato with a little butter

§         Day 3 - Cabbage soup plus fruit and vegetables excluding potatoes and bananas

§         Day 4 - Cabbage soup plus up to eight bananas and as much skimmed milk as you like

§         Day 5 - Cabbage soup plus up to 20 ounces of beef and up to six tomatoes

§         Day 6 - Cabbage soup plus as much beef and vegetables (excluding potatoes) as you like

§         Day 7 - Cabbage soup plus brown rice, vegetables (excluding potatoes) and unsweetened fruit juice

Cabbage Soup Recipe

half a head of cabbage
6 large green onions
2 green peppers
3 carrots
1 cup mushrooms
1 bunch of celery
6 large green onions
2 cubes of bouillon  
salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder

How to cook:

  1. Slice green onions, put in a pot and start to saute with cooking spray.
  2. Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, take the seeds and membrane out. Cut the green-pepper into bite size pieces and add to pot.
  3. Take the outer leafs layers off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, add to pot.
  4. Clean carrots, cut into bite size pieces, and add to pot. Slice mushrooms into thick slices, add to pot.
  5. You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. These have all the salt and flavors you will need.
  6. Use about 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for a long time - two hours works well. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
