What Should I Believe?

Diet With Good Food
Everything that tastes good is bad for your diet program. Well… we do agree that chocolate cake tastes better than plain old lettuce but there are loads of foods that taste great and are good for you as well. Low-fat doesn’t have to mean tasteless. Cook up stir fries with mushrooms, snow peas, lean beef, sesame seeds and lots of spices. Just remember, everything in moderation. This basically means, it’s okay to have a huge slice of chocolate cake once in a while, just not everyday.

Clever Combo’s
We’ve all heard of food combining but is it sound nutritional advice or yet another fad? And what about claims that you shouldn’t eat protein and carbohydrate foods together because it leads to a toxin build up? If it was true, humans would not be able to digest bread, cereals, rice, legumes or dairy products because all these foods contain a mix of carbohydrate, protein, and fat. Our body is perfectly equipped to cope with these mixtures. Food combining does help in some cases.

Diets Don’t Work
Crash diet doesn’t help you to lose weight. Crash dieting can slow down your body’s natural metabolism, which means you could end up gaining your weight. Crash diet program can also leave you feeling tired and irritable because you are not getting all the essential nutrients your body needs. So instead of cutting back on the amount that you eat, look at what you eat. It will include lots of carbohydrate foods like bread, cereal, fruit, and vegetables. Some lean meat and low-fat dairy products and you’re well on the way to losing weight. And don’t forget to exercise. Exercise will speed up your weight loss much faster than a controlled diet on its own.

Pill Poppers
There are some women or anyone with a known vitamin or mineral deficiency. The more vitamins the better doesn’t apply here. Overdosing on some vitamins is harmless as the body just gets rid of the excess, but many minerals are stored in the body and could accumulate to toxic levels over time. Generally, it’s best to stick to a well balanced diet to ensure you’re getting all nutrients that you need.

Full Not Fat
When your stomach feels full, it doesn’t mean you’ve eaten too much. Red meat or pasta can leave you feeling full for longer than fruit or vegetables. Beware also of so called ‘light meals’, they’re often laden with fat. One serve of Caesar salad has about 42g fat, compared with 12g fat for a serve of beef provencal casserole and vegetables. Another false food myth: beef is hard to digest. In fact, beef is highly digestible. 97% of beef is digested in comparison to 65% of most vegetables.

Exercise At Night
The important thing is that you are doing exercise regularly. Some say that exercise in the morning is the best time to burn fat because your blood sugar and insulin levels are at the lowest point. But when you start to exercise, insulin levels come down naturally. Exercise in the morning will give you the energy for the rest of the day. Otherwise just choose a time to exercise that suits you and that you can commit to. The only way you will be able to exercise regularly is if you actually enjoy it.

Late Night Eater
Eating late won’t make food to be stored as fat. But it is important that you don’t get so hungry by late evening that you overeat and end up consuming more than you need. Overeat in one time will lead to a greater production of insulin and fat storage. Just eat small meals regularly will enable your body to burn the fat.
